He is currently signed to the Combate Americas promotion. 2 Ortiz is most well-known for his involvement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in which he is an ex-UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, having been the champion from April 14, 2000, to September 26, 2003. Along with fighters like Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell and others, he was one the first stars of the sport. Ortiz was the biggest pay-per view attraction for 2006, because of his fights with Forrest Griffin and Ken Shamrock.
